Jupiter to Virgo & Saturn goes Direct: Hope, Determination and a Plan for Change | Vedic Astrology Forecast for August 13th, 2016

For the past 13 Months (since July 14th, 2015), we have been experiencing Jupiter in Leo. Here, Jupiter has been dancing through various expressions of inspired principles and the motivations to act upon then. The hope is that it has connected us to a higher vision of purpose, principles and wisdom and has inspired us to take action to share those with the world, and to bring those higher principles into reality.

On August 11th, 2016 Jupiter crossed into the Sidereal Sign of Virgo. Jupiter represents our principles and sense of meaning through beliefs and the higher teachings we are connected with. It is the source of hope, optimism and inspiration that causes us to seek growth, expansion and evolution.

What does Jupiter to Virgo & Saturn going Direct Bring?

Virgo is ruled by Mercury, showing that it operates through intelligence, curiosity and discrimination. Virgo is also an Earth sign showing its practical nature. It is motivated towards protection, towards finding problems and averting them. It seeks to be practical and helpful in an effort to sustain comfort and safety. And it does this through creating order.

Virgo is the feminine expression of Mercury, which reveals the movements of our inner intelligence to organize and manage the details of the world. It wants to be of service and improve the world. If Leo represents the “kingdom”, then Virgo’s job is to manage the details that allow the kingdom to run efficiently and effectively.

Virgo has a dutiful, responsible attitude that is motivated to be of service. But, it can also experience worry, frustration and a critical nature when its vision of order and implementation does not match what is happening around it.

As with most sign placements, Jupiter in Virgo can have both beneficial and challenging implications. The potential positive influence of Virgo on Jupiter is that is can help to organize and create a plan for manifesting our deeper sense of purpose and meaning into the world. From this perspective the Virgo influence brings a strong sense of discrimination to assess how to organize a plan and stay on track. And this force of discrimination also knows what to avoid and how to avert danger. Our higher teachings and principles operating through healthy discrimination can help us get down to the details that really matter and do the work necessary to make it happen.

The potential challenge of Jupiter in Virgo is that Jupiter is expansive, creative, hopeful and optimistic by nature. And Virgo’s worried, dutiful nature may cause Jupiter to feel frustrated and stuck in the details when it just wants to open and express itself. So, creating the plan and implementing a higher vision may feel a little frustrated at times both due to being caught in details as well as the effort and focus needed to stay on course.

Too much focus on this challenged experience of Jupiter in Virgo can keep us collectively stuck in a feeling of hopelessness. It can also keep us focused only on our own needs and our own selfish agendas.

At the same time, Jupiter’s presence in Virgo will bring hope and optimism into the process of creating the plan, if we choose to connect to it. It will expand our awareness of the details and the effort that we need in order to improve our lives and our circumstances.

As is often said, our experiences of life reflect where we focus our attention and our intention. The invitation here is to consciously choose to focus on the opportunity to improve our circumstances. To focus on Jupiter’s expansive, hopeful nature with the intention of allowing its grace to lift up the world. And to form plans and ways of managing our lives and our world’s countries that emphasize goodness and deep wisdom.

If we just fight against what isn’t working, our attention and intention stays aligned with the experience of “there’s a problem”. Instead, we need to find practical solutions. We need to be practical and realistic while also increasing our hope and optimism that there is a path towards a better society, a better global community and a way to infuse our daily lives with hope, meaning and inspiration by doing the practical things that need to be done to make it happen. As a phrase that has been helpful for one of my clients: it is time to “do what needs to be done in order for us to get what we want” while keeping joy, love and compassion as the underlying intention.

On August 13th early in the morning, Saturn ended its long period of retrograde activity and finally turned direct. Over the next week or 2 it will build momentum moving in a forward direction. Saturn is a planet of commitment that teaches us through limitation and the pressure of time. Through it we learn the we must create determination and ambition within our self to improve our circumstances. We learn that we only have so much time to create the changes that we want. And we also learn that sometimes things take longer than we might wish they would to manifest.

Through these limitations we learn patience, practicality, and a maturity towards life. During its retrograde phase, this ambition and determination “backed up”, creating a feeling of frustration and stuckness. Whether through lack of motivation or the feeling that effort didn’t create much movement, Saturn in retrograde forces us to deal with limitation and the pressure of uncertainly.

As Saturn builds its momentum moving forward, those feelings of being stuck and frustrated should start to fade away. As it is still in Scorpio, it is still supporting a deeper transformational process of all of us. And turning direct now will allow the inner transformations that have happened below the surface to now soften and begin to show up in our lives. Through the frustration and stuckness comes clarity, and now the energy of Saturn will support us in creating determined ambition to destroy what doesn’t work and to strengthen the areas of life that need improving.

It is time to recommit to your own growth and transformation. It is time to connect your deeper principles and sense of meaning and purpose into your practical daily life. To implement a plan for improving your life that is motivated by hope, optimism and the deeper values and teachings that inspire you.
